Room in Roof Insulation

Keep loft conversions and converted attic rooms warm in winter and cool in summer

About Room in Roof Insulation

If your loft has been converted into a bedroom, office, or living space, standard loft insulation laid flat between the joists won't do the job - the room itself needs insulating at the rafters, walls, and floor. Room in Roof insulation targets these sloped ceilings, dormer walls, and party walls to bring converted loft spaces up to modern thermal standards, tackling the draughts and temperature swings that are common in older conversions.

Benefits of Room in Roof Insulation

Reduce Heating Bills

Properly insulated rafters and knee walls cut the heat escaping through what is often the least insulated part of the house.

Improve Comfort

Say goodbye to a loft room that's freezing in winter and stifling in summer - insulation helps regulate temperature all year round.

Environmental Impact

Less energy used for heating and cooling means a smaller carbon footprint for your home.

Increase Property Value

A well-insulated, comfortable loft conversion is a stronger selling point and supports a better EPC rating.

Our Process

Our surveyors assess the rafters, knee walls, dormer cheeks, and party walls of your loft room to identify where heat is being lost and where ventilation needs to be maintained to prevent condensation. We then install insulation between and, where needed, over the rafters, insulate knee walls and floors, and reinstate plasterboard and finishes to a high standard, keeping disruption to the rest of the room to a minimum.

Specifications & Materials

We use PIR insulation boards or mineral wool systems appropriate to the available depth, maintaining the required roof ventilation gap to BS 5250 guidance to prevent trapped moisture and timber decay. Vapour control layers are fitted where necessary, and all work is specified to meet current Building Regulations for room-in-roof conversions.

Guarantees & Certification

All room in roof insulation work is installed to PAS 2030:2023 standards and comes with manufacturer and installer guarantees, backed by our TrustMark and BlueFlame accreditations.
